Defining Vsam FilesVsam File Definition Parameters

NOTE Using PowerExchange it is now possible to source all kinds of MVS data. To source an MVS Mainframe files using a VSAM source and Normalizer transformation in a PowerCenter mapping do the following: 1. Create dataset With any kind of data that is on MVS (except DB2) it is suggested to 'repro' it into a Sequential dataset of type fixed block. Qualitek 4 Keygens.

Create Copybook PowerCenter assumes that all files on MVS are being used in some COBOL program and an associated copybook is expected. If there is an associated copybook or an FD as part of a COBOL program append a few statements (refer to the PowerCenter Designer Guide ) and import that copybook as metadata into the designer. If there is an FD of the file as part of the COBOL program, delete all other FD's (if any) and the working storage section and all statements from the Program Division (except STOP RUN) and then import the metadata into the Designer. If there is no copybook a copybook will need to be created manually for the metadata choosing the file type as 'VSAM'. FTP file when running session To execute the session, FTP the data file from the mainframe to the machine where the PowerCenter server is installed (Unix or Windows). Note Always FTP the file in binary ('BIN') mode (FTP option for source in Sessions does this by default).
